PANAJI: The work on the much-awaited new fish market in Vasco is going on at full pace and is likely to be completed on time.
Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC), led by Chairperson Leo Rodrigues and others, carried out a joint site inspection along with councillors and contractors to overview the works being carried out.
Speaking to the media after the joint inspection, MMC Chairperson Leo Rodrigues said that works of the new fish market are being carried out at a full pace
“This was one of the most awaited projects as it had been held for many years as both the MMC and fish vendors could not come on on one platform to agree on the conditions. It was after Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar got elected that he began the process of discussions between the fish vendors and the authorities, and it was only after a series of rounds of discussion that the fish vendors vacated the area and handed over the premises for the construction of the new Fish Market” said Rodrigues.
Councillor Damodar Naik said that the state-of-the-art Fish market would be beneficial for all the stakeholders
“We arrived here to inspect the works being carried out, and we are delighted to see that the works are being carried out at full pace. We have assured the fish vendors that we will give them a good and state-of-the-art Fish market with all amenities and facilities, and this market will be completed on time. This market, once completed will be beneficial for all the stake holders and the people as well who will be able to buy good fish in a systematic and clean fish market that will have all the facilities,” said Naik.
