ARPORA: A 34-year-old construction labourer died after falling from the sixth floor of a building under construction near Newton Supermarket, close to the Starlite Restaurant in Arpora, on Tuesday evening.
The deceased, identified as Swapan Roy from West Bengal, was residing in Guirim, Mapusa.
The incident took place around 5:30 pm while Roy was plastering the outer wall of the building. Initial findings indicate that he lost his balance and fell from a significant height.
Emergency services were alerted immediately, but Roy was declared dead before medical aid could reach the scene.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident, and the safety protocols at the construction site are expected to be reviewed as part of the inquiry.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Further updates are awaited.
