CANACONA: A 28-year-old worker from Karnataka died of electrocution while carrying out fabrication work at Palolem Beach on Saturday afternoon.
According to police, the deceased, Nagesh Lamani, a resident of Pansulem, Canacona, and native of Karnataka, was employed as a helper under contractor Sidharth Dhabale.
On the day of the incident, Lamani was sent along with fabricator Chandan Kumar to undertake fabrication work at Palolem when he accidentally suffered an electric shock and collapsed unconscious.
He was rushed to CHC Canacona, where doctors declared him dead. Police conducted an inquest and later referred the body for post-mortem examination.
The police surgeon confirmed the cause of death as electrocution, noting burn injuries consistent with an electrical entry wound on the right anterior chest wall and an exit wound on the left anterior chest wall.
The body was handed over to the family after the completion of legal formalities for the final rites.
The case is under investigation by PSI Vishal Velip of Canacona Police Station.
