CANACONA – Forest Department (South Goa) planted saplings in Canacona to mark the World Environment Day on Sunday.
Goa Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar was the chief guest at the brief function organised by Forest Department (South-Goa) in the Navodaya School (JNV), Mastimoll.
Tawadkar later, in the presence of Forest officials and Navodaya staff, planted saplings in the complex to commemorate the celebration of World Environment Day.
In a unique gesture, ex-students Shri Mallikarjun College Delem observed World Environment Day by planting coconut saplings in the college vicinity.
‘World environment day is the United Nations day annually held to encourage worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment’, stated ex-student Vikas Bhagat.
