New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India’s growing capabilities in artificial intelligence received overwhelming appreciation from the global community at the recently concluded AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi. He noted that the recognition reflects confidence in India’s young technology talent and its potential to contribute meaningfully to humanity’s future.
The summit culminated in the adoption of the New Delhi Declaration on AI Impact, a framework aimed at strengthening international collaboration in the responsible development and deployment of artificial intelligence. The declaration has been endorsed by 89 countries and international organisations, underscoring a shared global commitment to harnessing AI for economic progress and societal benefit.
Leaders from across continents attended the high level gathering. Among them were United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, French President Emmanuel Macron, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Swiss President Guy Parmelin. The summit also drew participation from several other heads of state and government, alongside top executives from leading global technology firms.
With the theme ‘Sarvajan Hitay, Sarvajan Sukhay’, meaning welfare for all and happiness for all, the event sought to position India as a central player in shaping the global AI agenda. Discussions focused on ensuring that artificial intelligence advances human welfare, promotes inclusive development and supports environmental sustainability.
The gathering brought together more than 500 global AI leaders. This included around 100 chief executives and founders, 150 academicians and researchers, and hundreds of chief technology officers, vice presidents and philanthropic leaders. Over 100 government representatives and nearly 60 ministers and deputy ministers also took part, reflecting the wide ranging engagement and importance attached to the summit’s outcomes.
