MARGAO: Minister for Water Resources Department (WRD) Subhash A. Shirodkar on Thursday conducted an on-site visit to review water distribution issues related to the Salauli Dam and inspected the Paroda Canal to assess its irrigation potential.
During the visit, the Minister held discussions with officials to ensure efficient water management and adequate supply to the Salauli Dam command area. He also issued directions to facilitate water distribution benefiting around 500 additional farmers through the D1 Canal in the upcoming cropping season.
Accompanied by Chief Engineer Dyaneshwar Salelkar, Executive Engineers, and senior officials of the department, the Minister emphasized the need to strengthen agricultural output by encouraging villages with Panivatap Sanstha to cultivate at least five varieties of vegetable crops as cash crops to boost the rural economy.
Later, the Minister inspected the Paroda Canal, reviewed its water-carrying capacity, and instructed officials to take up necessary measures to improve irrigation flow and ensure consistent water availability.
The Minister reiterated the Government’s commitment to optimizing water resources for agricultural development and supporting farmers across Goa through systematic planning and infrastructure enhancement.
