DABOLIM: A tragic incident unfolded near Vishal Mega Mart in Dabolim, where a young staff member of the Electricity Department lost his life after a roadside metal barricade collapsed on him.
The deceased has been identified as Swapnil Chindarkar (30), a resident of Headland Sada in Mormugao. According to reports, Swapnil was returning home after completing his morning shift when the unfortunate accident occurred. Eyewitnesses stated that the metal barricade, which had been placed along the roadside, suddenly toppled, fatally injuring him.
Soon after the incident, several of Swapnil’s colleagues from the Electricity Department rushed to the site, expressing deep grief and anger over the loss. They demanded immediate action and justice for their fellow worker, raising concerns over the negligence in maintaining such barricades, which pose a serious threat to public safety.
The tragic event has sparked widespread outrage among department staff and local residents, who are now calling for strict accountability from the authorities responsible for road safety and public infrastructure management.
