BICHOLIM: A shocking case of assault and sexual abuse has surfaced in Goa, leading to the arrest of 19-year-old Gauresh s/o Barkelo Gaonkar of Podocem, Sattari.
The complaint, filed by the elder brother of the minor victim, details a brutal assault that took place on October 14, 2025, between 12:15 Hrs and 12:30 Hrs at a secluded temple in Sarvan, Vathadev, to which the accused allegedly took the minor girl by force on his black Vespa scooter.
During the incident, the accused is alleged to have violently assaulted the victim by constricting her neck, forcefully banging her face on the temple’s concrete steps, and punching her teeth, resulting in broken teeth and injuries to her lips.
Furthermore, the complaint reveals that the accused had engaged in forceful sexual intercourse with the minor victim on multiple previous occasions. Adding to the gravity of the crime, the accused allegedly threatened the victim with dire consequences if she disclosed the incidents and further compounded the minor’s trauma by publishing a video of the incident over WhatsApp, thereby revealing the victim’s identity. The police have registered a case under stringent sections, including Sections 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 of the POCSO Act, along with relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Goa Children’s Act 2003, and have initiated an ongoing investigation, with FIR copies being sent to the Hon. POCSO Court in Panaji and other judicial authorities.
