SIRIDAO: A 19-year-old from Taleigao was arrested for allegedly driving rashly and causing a serious road accident on the Siridao Flyover earlier this month.
The incident occurred on the night of October 17, 2025, at around 11:20 p.m., when the accused Sahil Kavlekar, son of Vishnu Kavlekar and resident of Odlem Bhat, Taleigao, reportedly drove his Renault car (GA-03-Z-6282) in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human life.
According to a complaint lodged by Head Constable Rajesh Dinkar Naik (49) of Agacaim Police Station, the accused was proceeding from Margao towards Panaji when his vehicle rammed into an Aviator scooter (GA-03-AC-9951) travelling in the same direction on the flyover.
The collision caused grievous injuries to the scooter rider, identified as Nasir Redkar (57), a resident of Porvorim and originally from Sawantwadi, Maharashtra.
Police registered the case on behalf of the State, and the accused was arrested on October 25, 2025, at 10:02 p.m. He was later released on bail the same day.
Further investigation into the case is being carried out by HC Rajesh Naik of Agacaim Police Station, officials confirmed.
