Colvale: A narcotics raid conducted by Colvale Police on Thursday (27 November 2025) led to the arrest of a 19-year-old youth found in possession of a substantial quantity of suspected ganja.
The offence was registered at 4:31 pm based on a state complaint filed by PS Dattaraj Rane of Colvale Police Station. Acting on specific and reliable information, police launched a raid between 11:40 am and 2:00 pm near the entry point of the service road along NH-66 leading to Central Jail, Colvale.
During the operation, the accused — Govind Kumar, son of Ramesh Kumar, 19, native of Beebalsar, Jalore, Rajasthan — was allegedly found with 5.400 kg of dried greenish leafy substance with flowering and fruiting tops, suspected to be ganja. The seized narcotics are valued at approximately ₹5,50,000.
The substance and other articles were attached under a panchanama. The accused was placed under arrest at 4:31 pm on the same day.
