Saligao: Police have registered a case against two individuals for allegedly assaulting and robbing a 23-year-old youth near Saibaba Temple in Sangolda, Bardez. The incident occurred on the night of August 2, 2025, around 10:00 PM, and the case was registered early morning the next day at 4:58 AM.
As per the complaint filed by Mr. Sairaj Morajkar, a resident of Sangolda Morod, he was on his way home on his Fascino scooter (Reg. No. GA-03-AX-4096) when the accused persons—identified as Mr. Akash Masurkar from Parra and Ms. Sonali Satardekar from Arpora—allegedly intercepted him near Satish Fast Food, close to the Saibaba temple. They wrongfully restrained him by blocking his path with their vehicle.
The duo then allegedly assaulted the complainant with an iron rod and bamboo stick, causing him physical injuries. They also reportedly damaged his scooter and robbed him of two mobile phones—an iPhone (black) and a Redmi (blue)—with active SIM cards (nos. 9284097284 and 7249215048). Additionally, accused Sonali Satardekar allegedly threatened the complainant with dire consequences to his life before both fled the scene on a scooter whose registration number is yet to be identified.
Saligao Police have registered Crime No. 27/25 under Sections 126(2), 118(1), 324(2), 351(3), 309(6) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act, 2023. The case is being investigated by PSI Dishan Naik of Saligao Police Station. Further inquiries are ongoing.
