Porvorim: Porvorim Police have registered an offence and arrested a 19-year-old youth for illegal possession of suspected ganja during a narcotics check at Torda Junction, Salvador-do-Mundo, Bardez.
According to police, the offence was registered on February 2, 2026, at around 9.00 pm based on a state complaint lodged by Pratik Tulaskar, Police Sub-Inspector of Porvorim Police Station. The complaint stated that on the same day, between 5.12 pm and 7.05 pm, near the garden area at Torda Junction, the accused was caught red-handed.
The accused has been identified as Sahil Mirza, son of Imtiaz Mirza, aged 19 years, a resident of Haliwada, Britona, Bardez, Goa. He was found in illegal possession of a dried greenish leafy substance with flowery and fruiting tops, suspected to be ganja, weighing about 250 grams. The contraband is estimated to be worth around ₹25,000 in the international market.
The suspected ganja was seized under a panchanama along with a polythene bag, a Fascino scooter bearing registration number GA-07-AR-2237, and other articles.
Further investigation in the case is being carried out by PSI Akash Chodankar.
