CAVELOSSIM: A 22-year-old youth lost his life in the early hours of September 8 after his scooter rammed into a truck that had been parked in a dangerous manner near Hotel Novotel & Resort, Cavelossim.
Police said the deceased, identified as Lakshya Wadhwa, a resident of Cavelossim and originally from Jaipur, was riding his TVS Ntorq from Cavelossim towards Mobor at around 4:30 am when he failed to notice the stationary truck and crashed into it from behind. He sustained grievous injuries and was rushed to the District Hospital, Margao, where he succumbed during treatment.
The truck, driven by Sahid Khan of Rajasthan, had been parked on the roadside without proper precaution, thereby endangering human life, according to police.
Colva Police have registered an offence under sections 125, 106, and 285 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and section 122 of the Motor Vehicles Act. The investigation is being carried out by PSI Nikhil Khajnekar.
