ANJUNA: A 21-year-old man from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, died under suspicious circumstances during a late-night party in Anjuna on Friday.
According to police, the youth’s condition suddenly worsened while he was attending the gathering. Friends rushed him to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Authorities said the exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem examination. Police have initiated an inquiry and are examining all possible angles, including the possibility of substance use.
Calangute MLA Michael Lobo said he has spoken with the police inspector in charge and instructed officials to conduct a thorough investigation. He stated that if the death is linked to a drug overdose, the source of the substance must be traced.
“We want clean tourism and do not want our youth to die due to drug abuse,” Lobo said, adding that strict action will be taken if the death is found to be related to any chemical or other substance.
He further noted that while some deaths among young people may occur due to natural causes such as cardiac issues, police will take appropriate legal action if the post-mortem rules out natural causes. The investigation is ongoing.
