BASTORA: A tragic road accident claimed the life of a 21-year-old youth, Sairaj Morajkar, a resident of Karaswada, Mapusa, in the early hours of Monday.
The mishap occurred around dawn when Morajkar was reportedly riding his motorcycle alone through the Bastora stretch. According to preliminary investigations, he is believed to have lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid. The impact flung him onto the road, inflicting critical head injuries.
Locals and passersby who witnessed the accident promptly rushed Morajkar to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) in Bambolim. Despite efforts by the medical team, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Police are yet to confirm whether the victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
