Arpora: Drugs are being brought into Goa from various locations and transported through multiple channels before reaching local peddlers, Calangute MLA Michael Lobo has alleged.
According to Lobo, students are increasingly falling prey to drug abuse after being offered narcotics at beaches, clubs, and parties. “Initially, the drugs are supplied free of cost to hook them. Once they get used to it, they start paying,” he said.
He added that many young people first exhaust their pocket money and then turn to borrowing from friends. “When that is not enough, they resort to theft. There are so many youngsters in Arpora-Nagoa committing theft to pay for their drug habit,” Lobo claimed.
He called for stricter enforcement and preventive measures to curb the menace and protect the youth.
