Panaji: The Goa Forward Party’s youth wing, Yuva Forward, on Wednesday submitted a formal representation to the Hon’ble Governor of Goa seeking a high-level independent inquiry into the recent student deaths reported at the BITS Pilani Goa campus.
A delegation led by Hritik Mandrekar, along with Vrushank Gaonkar, Soham Raut, and Krrish Ballikar, met the Governor at Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula, raising concerns over what they described as a disturbing pattern of student fatalities between December 2024 and February 2026.
Mandrekar stated that six student deaths were reported during this period, with each incident allegedly occurring during examination phases or periods of intense academic pressure. He said the recurring timing of these incidents pointed towards severe stress levels among students.
“Despite the tragic loss of six young lives, no detailed inquiry reports have been made public so far. This raises serious concerns about transparency and institutional accountability,” Mandrekar said. He added that students and parents deserve clarity and that corrective measures must be implemented without delay.
The delegation demanded a high-level independent inquiry into the deaths, complete public disclosure of the findings, and immediate institutional reforms to strengthen counselling services, student welfare mechanisms, and stress-management support systems on campus.
Reiterating that safeguarding young lives must be treated as a top priority, the Goa Forward Party urged authorities to act with urgency and ensure accountability in the matter.
