PANAJI: The bail hearing of Zenito Cardozo, arrested in connection with the assault on Rama Kankonkar, has been scheduled for the morning of October 10.
According to sources, Cardozo’s bail plea rests on several points, including the police’s own statement to the media that Kankonkar has not named any mastermind or politician as being behind the attack.
In his statement to the police, the victim reportedly identified one accused, Minguel, while the remaining assailants are yet to be identified. However, Kankonkar has maintained that he could recognize the others if presented for a test identification parade.
Cardozo’s period of judicial custody is set to end on October 10, coinciding with the scheduled hearing date.
