PANAJI: Anupriya Patel, the Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, informed the Lok Sabha that Goa has not recorded any deaths from Hepatitis B in the past five years or more since April 2019.
According to the data submitted by Patel in a written reply to the Lok Sabha, numerous other states have had a dramatic increase in Hepatitis B deaths, including Gujarat (132 deaths last year), Madhya Pradesh, which had 247 deaths, and Rajasthan, with 176 deaths.
According to Patel, the National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme, which provides hepatitis C, A, and E testing and treatment services, was started by the national government in 2018. In 2019, it was broadened to cover hepatitis B testing and treatment, she said.
According to Prataprao Jadhav, Minister of State in the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare, Goa received roughly Rs 750 crore in financial aid from the Center for Health over the course of five years, from 2019–20 to 2023–24.
