New Delhi: In a celebration of innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, Nithin Kamath, the founder and CEO of Zerodha, has been recognized as the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2024. This prestigious award acknowledges his pivotal role in transforming India’s brokerage industry through a groundbreaking low-margin, high-volume strategy. The ceremony, attended by prominent figures such as Union Minister Bhupender Yadav, highlighted the profound impact of Indian entrepreneurs on both national and global stages.
The event was a testament to the power of entrepreneurial vision, celebrating achievements across various sectors. It underscored the significant contributions of Indian entrepreneurs in shaping industries and driving economic growth.
Nithin Kamath’s selection for the award was based on his innovative approach that has revolutionized the brokerage sector. He will represent India at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year award in Monte Carlo in June 2025, marking a significant milestone for Indian entrepreneurship on the global stage.
KV Kamath, a renowned figure in India’s financial services sector, was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his enduring contributions. Dr. S. Somanath received the Special Jury Award for his instrumental role in advancing India’s space ambitions.
Other notable winners included Pradeep Rathod, Rajesh Magow, Himanshu Baid, Meher Pudumjee, Pirojsha Godrej, Kamesh Goyal, Sameer Nigam, and Anish Shah, each recognized for their achievements in different categories. Collectively, these entrepreneurs generate nearly Rs 2 lakh crore in revenue, with a combined valuation exceeding Rs 15 lakh crore. They employ almost three lakh individuals globally, reflecting their substantial economic impact.
The event was part of EY’s 26th Entrepreneur of the Year awards in India, a platform that celebrates entrepreneurial innovation and growth.
