PANAJI: PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral’s said that the second segment of the new Zuari Bridge is anticipated to open for traffic before January 2024.
Last December, traffic was allowed to cross the River Zuari on the first four lanes of the eight-lane bridge.
According to Cabral, the only work left undone on the second section is the final coating layer, which was delayed by the nonstop rain.
He stated, “We should be in a position to finish the work by December 10 and load testing by December 15 if the rains don’t play spoil sport.”
According to the Minister, a partial trial run of the second section is anticipated starting on November 30. He declared, “We are on schedule and we had promised that the bridge will be fully operational before January or February 2024.”
He stated, “The actual work was supposed to be completed by November 30 but the same has been delayed due to incessant rains.”
According to Cabral, the precise date of the lane’s public opening will be announced after the project is finished.
September of last month saw the installation of the final section of the second four-lane section.
