Panaji: Ten persons, including nine fishermen were rescued off Goa’s coastline during the course of the long Independence Day weekend, during which Drishti Marine lifesavers also reunited a three-year old Nepali girl with her family at Miramar beach over the weekend.
In South Goa, nine fishermen were rescued off Rajbagh beach in South Goa, after a fishing boat carrying them capsized a short distance from the shore. Lifesavers immediately rushed to their rescue and brought them ashore, with the help of Goa Police and Fire and Emergency Services personnel.
A forty-nine year old man from Haryana was rescued off Arambol beach by lifesaver Manoj Parab over the weekend. Parab noticed the victim struggling in the water and rushed to save the man with a surfboard, bringing him safely ashore.
At Miramar beach, a three-year old girl from Nepal, found unattended by a tourist, was handed over to patrolling Drishti Marine lifesavers, who immediately began searching for her parents. Soon, the girl’s parents approached lifesavers on the beach to help locate their child, and on confirmation of their identities, they were reunited with the girl.
On Vagator beach, a man from Bengaluru was administered first aid by lifesavers after he slipped and fell in a rocky area, sustaining a head injury. The victim was rushed to the hospital immediately after by his companions
