PANAJI: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has called for a united political approach to advance the implementation of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, stressing the need for collective action across party lines.
Ahead of the special Parliament session scheduled from April 16, he described the moment as a crucial phase in India’s democratic journey and urged leaders, MPs, and stakeholders to support the move. Referring to the vision of Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister said the focus is now on translating the landmark reform into action.
He emphasised that empowering women in legislative roles is key to strengthening governance and ensuring broader representation, adding that the initiative goes beyond political differences and reflects a long-standing national commitment to gender equality.
Dr. Sawant also noted that consultations with constitutional experts have reinforced the importance of the move in deepening democratic participation and bringing fresh energy into governance, while calling for a constructive and unified voice in support of the reform.
