Valpoi: In a tragic incident, a 10th standard students from Pal Thane, Sattari committed suicide this morning as the parents failed to meet his demand of a smart phone.
The 16 year old boy Rohit Varak hanged himself at his residence at Pal as his parents dis not give him a smart phone for online classes.
Online classes in the State have been a major controversy as many rural areas do not get range or parents cannot afford a mobile phone
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said that the online classes are not mandatory and teachers will take up the entire syllabus again in schools.
