PANAJI: Department of Archaeology has constituted a 15-member Monitoring Committee for drafting of Heritage Policy for the State of Goa.
The Monitoring Committee is expected to give inputs for the Heritage Policy, supervise and scrutinize the draft of Heritage Policy, evaluate suggestions and objections received from domain experts and general public in respect of the Heritage Policy and recommend the draft of Heritage Policy for confirmation of the Government.
The committee chaired by Secretary, Archeology has following as members in addition to govt officials – Rajendra Kerkar, Folklorist, Environmentalist and Expert on Intangible Heritage , Ketak Nachinolkar, Conservation Architect, Dr. Pandurang Phal Desai, Folklorist and Expert on Intangible Heritage, Sanjeev Sardessai, Expert on Heritage Tourism and Representative of Goa Heritage Action Group.
In 2018, the TCP Dept had also initiated the process of drafting Goa Heritage policy to decide on the conservation and protection of heritage structures.
