PONDA: Ponda resident Vadood Shaikh, 19, has been taken into custody by the Ponda Police in relation to an alleged juvenile rape.
The arrest took place on October 6, following a written complaint from the victim’s mother.
The incident happened on September 26 at around 3:30 pm at the Curti, Ponda Sports Complex, according to police reports.
According to the complaint, Shaikh sexually assaulted the youngster using illegal force, recorded the incident on his phone, and shared the video online.
Section 74 of the BNS, Sections 8 and 14 of the POCSO Act, Section 67B of the Information Technology Act of 2000, the Information Technology Amendment Act of 2008, and Section 8(2) of the Goa Children Act are among the various sections under which the police filed the case.
On October 6, Shaikh was brought into jail. Investigating Officer PI Vijaynath Kavlekar of the Ponda Police Station is in charge of the current investigation. As the inquiry develops, more details will be given.
