PANAJI: Goa Konkani Academy, Panaji in collaboration with V.M. Salgaocar College Law will be co-hosting the 23rd Konkani Youth Literary Fest on February 17 and 18, 2024 at Miramar, Panaji.
The conference will include workshops on various genres of literature, youth awards presentations, and discussions on the literature.
Ms. Anwesha Singbal has been elected as the Chairperson for the fest.
Anwesha Singbal, winner of the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Youth Literature Award 2016 for her collection of poems ‘Sulus’, does not call herself a writer. Before becoming a writer, she considered herself a Konkani activist. Immersing herself in journalism and the student movement soon after completing her law studies, Anvesh discovered her knack for helping make society a better place and has consistently contributed to the community ever since. She is the first woman president of Konkani Bhasha Mandal, the oldest non-governmental organization in Goa. She is currently serving her second term as president.
Anvesha is active in the community and organizes various sessions with youth and women. The lectures are on topics such as misconceptions around menstruation, laws for women, gender equality, storytelling techniques, and reading.
She is a creative entrepreneur. Her business, Abhinav Creations, allows her to live between books, children, and her passion for reading and writing. Besides organizing book fairs for children in many schools in Goa, she also organizes special holiday camps for children. Called ‘Mazza’, The camps keep young children engaged in a variety of activities including stories, poetry, drama, music, and crafts.
She was officially appointed to the Translation Board of the Government of Goa for some time. Government documents and websites have been translated into Konkani. She is currently working as a translator under the central government’s AI4Bharat project.
Her books of poetry are Sulus, Padsad, Champho and Asor, a children’s literature book, Dant and she has translated several children’s literature books. She has also translated several children’s books for Pratham Books’ Story viewer website. Two children’s story books for the
National Book Trust have been translated.
She was recently awarded the Government of Goa Youth Creation Award.
Ms. Meghana Kapdi is the Chair person for this Literary Fest. She is an Assistant Professor in History having teaching experience of 24 years. She has also served as the NSS Coordinator of the NSS Unit of the college. Recently she was felicitated by the Cuncolim Martyrs Committee for her contribution to the Editorial Board of Goa HSSC History Text book. At present, she is pursuing a Ph.D. from Goa University.
Dyaneshwar Pednekar will be welcoming the guests on behalf of the institution. He joined this Institute as an Administrator in June 2006. A double postgraduate in Economics and Sociology, he also possesses a degree in Education (B.Ed) and a Diploma in Business Administration (DBA). He has been in the field of teaching for more than 20 years, having taught subjects like Economics and Sociology.
During his tenure in the field of education for the last 45 years, he has worked in the capacity of Principal for 25 years, Dy. Registrar of Goa University for 6 years and as an Administrator of this College for 10 years.
An administrator par excellence and brilliant educationist during his long tenure in the field of Education, he has been awarded various awards and certificates including 5 International honours. Has been a recipient of the National Award/President Award as a Teacher of Outstanding Merit of 2001, in 2002 at the hands of His Excellency President of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
Along with this, he has received numerous awards, recognition, and appreciation at State/National level.
