CALANGUTE: According to the Directorate of Transport, there were fewer traffic fatalities and accidents in Goa in November 2024 than in October. There were 241 accidents in November, 19 fewer than the 260 occurrences that were reported in October. In October, there were, on average, 8.66 traffic accidents in Goa every day.
Road accidents claimed the lives of 17 people in the state in October, but just 15 in November.
According to a breakdown of the November figures, there were 165 accidents with no injuries, 18 that were serious, 43 that were mild, and 15 that were deadly. In contrast, there were 180 non-injury events, 47 mild accidents, and 16 serious accidents in October.
There were 125 accidents reported in North Goa, comprising 94 non-injury events, 13 serious accidents, 10 minor accidents, and 8 fatalities. Three pedestrians and five riders were among the dead. In addition, 19 people had minor injuries and 13 had serious injuries.
Seven fatalities, five serious accidents, thirty-three minor accidents, and seventy-one non-injury occurrences were among the 116 accidents that South Goa reported. Four bikers, one pillion rider, one driver, and one pedestrian were among the fatalities. Nine serious injuries and sixty-seven moderate injuries were reported by the district.
Nine riders, one pillion rider, two drivers, four pedestrians, and neither cyclists nor passengers were among the 16 people who died in November.
