CALANGUTE: 25 agents and touts were caught by Calangute Police operating illegally on Calangute Beach.
According to authorities, the majority of those arrested were from Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh.
The crackdown is a reaction to growing complaints from travelers who have tarnished Goa’s reputation as a top vacation spot by frequently highlighting on social media how they were overcharged for services.
“The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors,” said Inspector Paresh Naik of the Calangute Police.
Police have stepped up their efforts to prevent incidents that can ruin the festivities as the New Year approaches.
