MERCES: A two-wheeler rider died after she was run over by an army truck near Merces Circle.
The victim’s name was revealed by the Old Goa police to be 26-year-old Sadetim, Chorao resident Ankita Volvoikar.
Around 10.50 am, a two-wheeler rider was struck from behind by Shubham Kumar, a Himachal Pradesh resident, who was driving a military truck carelessly and rashly when it approached the Merces Circle.
Ankita suffered severe injuries when the truck ran her over after she fell onto the road as a result of the incident. The vehicle and the two-wheeler rider were travelling from Bambolim to Panaji.
She was sent to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim right away for treatment, however, she passed away in the hospital’s casualty department from her wounds.
Under Sections 281 and 106 of the BNS, the Old Goa police have filed a case against Shubhyam Kumar, a CMD (civilian motor driver) at 2 STC, MT Coy, Bambolim Camp. According to police, more investigations are ongoing.
