MARGAO: All of the suspects in the Rs 72 lakh gold heist at Comba-Margao, who are all West Bengali locals, have been taken into custody by the Margao police.
At the request of the accused, the police have also been successful in recovering gold ornaments valued at Rs 14,85,000, weighing about 205.281 kilos.
Three West Bengali natives, Suprokash Mandal, Sanjoy Mondal, and Tapas Jana, were tasked with creating gold ornaments out of melted gold at complainant Pritesh Lotlikar’s Comba workplace. They dishonestly stole the gold, which weighed about 959 grams and was valued at Rs. 72 lakhs.
In order to track down and capture the accused in West Bengal, police teams were assembled for a thorough and expeditious investigation. They also deployed technical and electronic monitoring.
All three of the accused were located in the Habra Police Station locality of Kolkata, namely in the Phultala locality, Golbhati, North 24 Parganas, according to SP South Sunita Sawant.
The defendants have been placed under police detention for a period of five days.
