PONDA: At the Mollem checkpoint, the Collem Police detained Gudusab Ibrahim Bepari, a resident of Dattagad-Bethora, Ponda, and confiscated 300 kg of meat from him.
Meat was discovered in the car after the Collem Police stopped it during a check at the Mollem check post. Gudusab was taken into custody since he was unable to present any paperwork pertaining to the meat in question.
Following notification, representatives from the Department of Animal Husbandry Veterinary Services traveled to Mollem, examined the meat, and then disposed of it in accordance with the guidelines.
The meat was being transported in bulk from Belgaum to be marketed in Dattagad and Margao, respectively, based on the information that was available.
Recall that three separate seizures of comparable meat occurred last month.
In Goa, the meat is marketed for between Rs 250 and Rs 270 per kg, whereas it is imported from Belgaum for Rs 170 per kg.
