In a major development, the side wall of the tunnel of Konkan Railway route near Pernem station collapsed, which has led to either trains being cancelled or diverted.
Konkan railway officials said the tunnel, located between Madure station in Maharashtra and Pernem station in Goa, collapsed in the wee hours on Thursday at 2.50 am.
A press note issued by the Konkan railway said that at least half a dozen trains have been diverted via the South Western Railway route of Madgaon-Londa.
Further, note added said that there were casualties or injuries and the restoration is in progress.
This is the second such accident on railway route disrupting traffic in Goa. On Wednesday landslide took place between Caranzol and Castlerock.
