Vasco: A 46-year-old man was found dead in an apparent case of suicide near Ganesh Temple, Shantinagar, Airport Road, Vasco, on Monday morning.
According to police, a call was received from PCR Margao at around 10:13 a.m. informing that a person had committed suicide. Upon visiting the spot, police identified the deceased as Sureshkumar, a resident of Shantinagar, Vasco. He was found hanging from a ceiling fan using a cloth as a ligature.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Sureshkumar worked as a fitter with a marine electrical firm in Verna. He was living alone in a rented room and was reportedly a chronic alcoholic. Police further stated that he had not attended work for the past three days.
An inquest and scene of the occurrence panchanama were conducted, and the body was sent to South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for medico-legal formalities.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Prisly Carvalho of Vasco Police Station.
