BORIM: A 48-year-old man was found dead in an apparent case of suicide near Sai Baba Temple at Kajorda, Borim, in Ponda.
As per police information, at around 10:18 pm on February 25, 2026, PCR Panaji informed Ponda Police that a person had locked himself inside a room and was not opening the door. Police personnel rushed to the spot and, with the assistance of staff from the Ponda Fire Station, forced open the door.
Upon entering the room, police found that the man had allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself using a dupatta tied to a wooden rafter as ligature material.
The deceased has been identified as Krishna Naik (48), a resident of Khazordem, Borim, Ponda. Preliminary enquiry revealed that he was unemployed and a chronic alcoholic.
Police conducted the scene of unnatural death (UD) occurrence panchanama and inquest panchanama over the body. The शव has been preserved at South Goa District Hospital for further medico-legal formalities.
