As the dead bovines were seen lying on either side of the MPCBR Divider, it is believed that an unknown number of large sized vehicles plying on either sides of the Divider (Towards Karwar and towards Margao) have run –over the buffaloes killing them on the spot.
When noticed early in the morning, police were informed and police with the help of locals pulled the dead bovines on the road-sides.
A local activist Vaibhav Phaldessai who informed police and one of the persons to assist In the task of pulling the bovines away from the road, had blamed the lack of illumination and failure to erect protective fencing of MPCBR as the reasons for the mishap.
‘the MPCBR has no proper illuminations not only at the Bhagatwada areas, but the 4-Lane expressway lacks street lights in several areas making it very dangerous for the vehicles to identify anything on the road’
