PANAJI: DGP Goa Jaspal Singh IPS today questioned what bravado lies in not wearing a helmet while stating that Human skulls are not metallic, but helmets are.
“What bravado lies in not wearing a Helmet? Is there any pride in violation of Law.? None. Human Skulls are not metallic; helmets are. So wear them if you love your relatives,” said DGP.
He further urged all riders, including Pillion riders are encouraged to wear a good quality BIS-certified helmet while riding on all roads highways or a link / roral roads and clasp it properly and not just to keep it on head.
“Pertinently, 75 % of fatalities happen with riders without helmets. Citizens are the most important stakeholders in this endeavour,” he added.
Singh also requested citizens to assist Goa Police in ensuring Safer Roads.
“i-RAD team would suggest short-term and long measures to concerned authorities in addition to strict enforcement by local Police and Traffic calming measures,” he added.
