CANACONA: An 85-year-old Khola man was found dead in a hut erected to guard the paddy cultivation in a field from wild animals at Agonda. The body is found in a highly decomposed state.
Even though the family suspects no foul play in the death, Canacona police take no chance, but preserve the deceased viscera for chemical analysis, after the post-mortem report was inconclusive on the cause of death.
According to Canacona police, they have recovered the highly decomposed body of Narayan Velip, 85 years of age, from a hut he was staying in amidst open paddy-fields at Karpa-Agonda after a phone call was received from the site.
Due to high decomposition, the police surgeon could not give a cause of death after the post-mortem. However, even as the family suspects no foul play, the police take no chance and preserved the Viscera of the deceased for chemical analysis and tissue for DNA profiling, states Canacona police.
Police further informed that though the deceased is a resident of Matvemoll-Khola, he was temporarily residing in a Hut erected amidst the cultivated Paddy Field at Karpa-Agonda. Police conducted panchanama at the Scene of Unnatural Death, and Inquest Panchanama over the dead body, before referring the dead body to SGDH, Margao for Postmortem Examination.
Police Surgeon conducted an autopsy over the dead body, but in view of the advanced stage of decomposition, no opinion as to the cause of death is given, even as Viscera is preserved for chemical analysis and tissue preserved for DNA profiling, to completely rule out any foul play though family suspects no foul play in the death of their family member.
The dead body is handed over to the family and final rights are conducted by informed sources. PSI Babu D Desai, of Canacona Police Station, is conducting further investigation.
