CANACONA: Multi-faceted Lyricist, Composer, Singer, Artist, Painter and Poet Gourish Vernekar has been awarded the A.N. Mhambro Literary Award of the Hindu Association for his outstanding work in the field of Konkani literature.
As a poet Gaurish Vernekar has written Kani Kani Kotva, Zero, Artha etc. in the Konkani literary field. A collection of poems has been published. Also, audio tapes written and composed by Sri Kshetra Mallikarjuna, Adimahalsa Matoli etc. have been released. His Abhang and Bhav Gita, Bhajani Gita Collection, Papa Essay Collection, etc. Books have been published.
His plays Attiva, Prasna Havan Manis Ashwatthamo are famous.
So far he has been honored with Konkani Academy’s Bhasha Seva Award, Yuva Chaitanya Award, Adarsh Mitra Award, Charoli Award, Ujwad Kala Gaurav Award, Yuva the Goa Award, Nehru Youth Award amongst a few more awards.
He has participated in the national level poet’s meeting Sahitya Samelan organized by Sahitya Akademy at Guwahati, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Mumbai, Kochi. He also participated in Kavi Samelan organized by Akhil Bharatiya Konkani Parishad, Goa Konkani Akademi Kavita Trust.
He is the current president of the Konkani Writers Association. He was also the executive director of the All India Konkani Parishad.
The award distribution ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 on the anniversary of Hindu Association at 04:00 PM at Beyan Vaigya Auditorium, Dadar Mumbai.
Ghyanpith award winner Damodar Mazo will be present as the chief guest of this ceremony.
