Panaji: Aam Aadmi Party Organisation Secretary Prashant Naik on Tuesday criticised the BJP government over Goa’s reported unemployment rate of 8.3 per cent, alleging that local youth were being denied genuine employment and business opportunities in the State.
Naik also targeted Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, stating that while the government encouraged youth to become entrepreneurs instead of depending on jobs, adequate support systems for local startups and employment generation were lacking.
Addressing the issue, Naik claimed that many young people who had completed skill development courses were still struggling to secure jobs or establish businesses in Goa.
He alleged that opportunities in various sectors were increasingly going to non-Goans while local youth continued to face difficulties in accessing employment and business prospects.
“The government asks youth not to depend on jobs and to start businesses, but there is no proper support, guidance or roadmap for entrepreneurship and employment generation,” Naik said.
The AAP leader further accused the BJP government of creating hurdles instead of facilitating business growth for Goan youth.
According to Naik, the State government lacked a concrete strategy to address unemployment and promote sustainable economic opportunities for locals.
AAP has demanded immediate policy intervention, financial assistance and simplified procedures to encourage startups and business initiatives among Goa’s youth.
The party also called for focused measures aimed at strengthening local entrepreneurship and improving employment opportunities within the State.
