PANAJI: Aam Aadmi Party Organisation Secretary Prashant Naik on Monday launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led government, accusing it of failing to tackle the growing unemployment crisis in Goa.
Naik criticised Chief Minister Pramod Sawant over the State’s unemployment rate, which he said currently stands at 8.3 per cent. Reacting to the Chief Minister’s recent remarks encouraging youngsters to focus on entrepreneurship instead of relying on jobs, Naik claimed that genuine employment and business opportunities are increasingly going to non-Goans rather than local youth.
He alleged that many Goan youths who have completed skill development and training programmes are still unable to find stable employment or establish businesses due to the lack of proper government support.
According to Naik, the State government has failed to create a clear strategy for employment generation and entrepreneurship development. He further accused the BJP administration of creating hurdles for local entrepreneurs instead of promoting and supporting business growth among Goans.
The AAP leader also claimed that there is no effective roadmap in place to address unemployment in Goa or to empower youth through sustainable economic opportunities.
The party has urged the government to introduce immediate policy measures, financial backing and simplified procedures to help young people start businesses and generate employment within the State.
