PANAJI: As the Ulhas Jewellers – BPS Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2024 progressed to the higher categories in U17 and U19 Boys, Goa’s bright talent Aaron Farias is poised for a double crown, having reached the finals in both the U17 and U19 Boys singles. The event, held at the multipurpose stadium in Fatorda under the aegis of Goa Table Tennis Association, showcased Aaron’s exceptional skill and talents. In the U17 Boys singles, Aaron will face another rising star, Chandan Caro, while his opponent in the U19 Boys finals will be the gritty Rishan Shaikh.
In the U17 Boys Singles Quarters, Aaron Farias dominated Surendra Chube with a 3-0 victory, and continued his winning streak by defeating Khushal Naik 3-0 in the semis. Chandan Caro emerged victorious against Atahrva Dhulapkar 3-0 in the quarters and thereafter overcame Rishan Shaikh with a close 3-2 win, setting up a thrilling final against Aaron. In the U19 Boys Singles, Aaron again showed his prowess by defeating Chinmay Bakhare 3-0 in the quarters and overcoming Chandan Caro 3-2 in a hard-fought semifinal match. Rishan Shaikh earned his spot in the U19 finals by crusing past Atharv Borkar 3-0 in the quarters and then defeating Khushal Naik 3-1, promising an exciting showdown against Aaron. Tanishq Budigop, Pushkar Virginkar, Ruhaan Shaikh, Tejaswa Morajkar, Vivaan Khalap, Neel Sanke and Ved Amonkar were some of the players who registered promising performances in these category events.
