PANAJI: In relation to Constable Prathamesh Gawade’s suicide case, the District and Session Court North Goa on Friday granted LPC Priti Chawan and Taniksha Chawan conditional bail.
The terms of the bail were to not leave the state of Goa without the court’s approval, to not tamper with the evidence, and to provide a personal bond of Rs 20,000 each with a guarantor of the same amount.
On November 7, the two LPCs were suspended and subsequently taken into custody in connection with Prathamesh Gawade’s suicide aid case. In an attempt to commit suicide, they both leaped from the first floor of the Central Jail in Colvale, North Goa.
Advocate Veena Ghode told reporters, “The order was reserved until today after the argument ended on Wednesday. On October 25, Prathamesh killed himself, and his body was discovered on October 27. The female constables were taken into custody the following day after the FIR was filed on November 3.
An IRB employee named Mahadev Naik submitted the complaint. After we presented our case, the court was persuaded. The two female constables had tried to jump to their deaths from the Central Jail’s first floor at Colvale.
They were rushed to North Goa District Hospital where they received treatment and discharged later.
