PANAJI: Kala Academy’s Chairman Govind Gaude insisted on Friday that the theater has the newest technology despite claims of inferior theater equipment, including the sound system.
However, he acknowledged that further training is necessary for the present technicians to operate the updated sound system effectively. Artist Rajdeep Naik, who has accused the institution of installing subpar acoustic theater equipment and cited problems with lighting and sound, has sharply disputed this claim.
Displacing the assertions made by Naik, Gaude added that although there might be teething issues until the technicians get used to the new system, the equipment is not inferior in any way.
“Acoustics and the sound system are connected… Our sound and lighting systems have been updated. The systems are operating flawlessly,” he continued.
Gaude gave assurances regarding technician training, saying that initial training has been given to those in charge of lighting, sound, and other equipment. But he did acknowledge that they needed more training, and he did confirm that they will receive more training, especially for the sound system team, to improve their operational proficiency.
The faculties of theater, tiatr, and western and classical music were also invited to Kala Academy in order to evaluate the sound system’s fit for each of their individual performances.
In order to establish accountability, the artist has, however, challenged Gaude to conduct a theater or drama in front of technicians and the general public. When the systems are at fault, why is he placing the blame on the technicians? The sound system has been completely ruined by the engineers.
