At present annual financial liabilities @ Rs. 2000/- per month is Rs. 84,34,80,000/- per annum
On the enhancement of financial assistance from Rs. 2000/- to Rs. 2500/- the additional annual financial liabilities would be Rs. 21,08,70,000/-.

The Chief Minister’s announcement in the last budget of the enhancement in Dayanand Social Security Scheme for widows will cost the State a whopping Rs 21 crore.
The Directorate of Social Welfare is running the scheme viz. Dayanand Social Security Scheme in which the categories such as (a) Senior Citizen (Rs 2000), (b) Single Women (Rs 2000), (c) Persons with Disabilities (Rs 2500) and (d) HIV/AIDS (Rs 3500) patients are availing the benefits of financial assistance.
There are around 35145 ‘Widow availing benefits under Dayanand Social Security scheme and present annual financial liabilities @ Rs. 2000/- per month is Rs. 84,34,80,000/- per annum and on the enhancement of financial assistance from Rs. 2000/- to Rs. 2500/- the additional annual financial liabilities would be Rs. 21,08,70,000/-.
During the last Assembly session, the Chief Minister in his Budget speech for the year 2021-22, has assured the House’s floor that the financial assistance to Widow will be enhanced from Rs. 2000/- per month to Rs.2500 /- per month.
Since the Chief Minister during the Budget assurance has announced to increase the financial assistance to Widow from Rs. 2000/- to Rs. 2500/- it is proposed to amend the ‘Dayanand Social Security scheme to the above extent by enhancing the financial assistance granted to the widows.
However, in the Dayanand Social Security scheme, no separate Widow category exists, but the category ‘Widow’ is included as a sub-category under the
main category viz. ‘Single Women’.
