BAMBOLIM: Goa Medical College (GMC) Dean Dr Shivanand Bandekar today said that admissions to added MBBS seats will begin from today.
“The admissions to 20 MBBS added seats will start today. 17 seats have neen reserved for Goa; with 200, the quota is full and we cannot intake more,” said Bandekar
He further said that if new medical College comes up, additional 150 seats would be granted.
The Goa Medical College has obtained approval from the National Medical Commission to increase its MBBS seats to 200 for the 2024-25 academic year.
In addition, several postgraduate MD/MS courses will also see an uptake, with the Commission granting permission to increase the MD Radiodiagnosis seats from six to seven, MS General Surgery from six to 15 seats, MS Obstetrics and Gynaecology from six to eight seats, MD Pharmacology from four to six seats and MD Paediatrics from seven to 10 seats.
In a statement, GMC said, We have received the Letter of Permission from the National Medical Commission, approving an increase in our MBBS seats to 200.
This expansion marks a significant step towards enhancing the capacity of our institution and allowing more students to pursue their aspirations of becoming skilled medical professionals.
