Canacona: Adpai Yuwa Sangh(Chitrarath), Kudchadem Kakoda Shigmosthav Samittee (Romtamel)and Dilip Kenkre (Individual Fancy Dress) walks away with top honours at the recently held Canacona Shigmosthav Floats Parade at Chaudi.
Canacona Shigmosthav Committee Working President Babesh Borkar declared the results in the different categories on Thursday for the floats Parade held at Canacona on Tuesday evening.
Adpai Yuwa Sangh was adjudged as the best in the Chitrarath category and bagged the first prize cash award of Rs 45,000/- where 18 other groups from different parts of the State took part in the parade at Canacona.
The favourite Bhagavati Kala Sangh, Dhavali, has to be content
with the second position pocketing a cash award of Rs.30,000/-, while Dashakal Stars Mashel came third, winning cash of Rs.25000/-. Gajanan Creative Boys Ponda and Bal Gopal Sanskrutik Mandal cake 4th and 5th position winning cash awards of Rs.20,000/- and Rsm15,000/-, respectively. Consolation Honorariums each of Rs.5000/- were given to 9 Chitrarath groups Sparkling Sports & Cultural, Shantadurga Marudev Prassann, Rayeshwar Yuwak Mandal, Damodar Mahalaxmi Kala Sangh, Paek Dev Kala Sangh Sanguem, Ganashree Boys Ponda, Sai Ravalnath, Kavlem, Shree Damodar Margao and Sai Kala Mandal Margao.
In the Romtamel category, Kudchadem Kakoda Shigmosthav Samittee became richer by winning the first prize cash award of Rs 35000/-, Shree Mandaleshwaar Managuru Shigmosthav had to be content with Second place and a cash award of Rs.20,000/-. Chandreshwaar Bhutnath Shigmosthav Mandal, Quepem, came third, winning Rs.15,000/-.Sanvordem Shigmosthav Samittee and Navdurga Mahila Mandal Poinguinim, who performed first at the flag off of Canacona Shigmosthav Floats, had to be content with 4th prize of Rs10,000/- and 5th prize of Rs.7,000/-, respectively.
Dilip Kenkre, a local artist and activist, surprised everyone by winning the first prize of Rs.4000/- in the Fancy Dress (Sr) Category. Kenkre dressed as Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and came on a white Horse at the parade. Sai Pagi (Poinguinim) and Shiva Naik were adjudged 2nd and 3rd prize winners earning Rs. 3000/- and Rs.2000/-, respectively.
The winners of Fancy Dress (Middle) are Laximi P Dessai, Khaustubh Mhalshi and Krunal Velip. Pre-primary level winners are Aarvi Naik, Arya Velip and Swara Gaonkar. Primary category winners are Anvi Naik, Purab Pujari and Gauravi Naik.
Committee Joint Secretary Subhash Mahale invited the Winners to collect the Lre-Receipt of their Winning Purse from Kamaxi Digital Point, Chaudi, the office of Canacona Shigmosthav Committee Working President Babesh Borkar.
Mahale further informed that the Pre-receipt has to be submitted to the Tourism dept to collect the winning amounts.
