SIRIDAO: Agassaim Police and Old Goa Police, in a joint operation, have detected a house theft case involving property worth approximately Rs 12 lakh and traced the stolen property.
The case, Cr. No. 57/2026, was registered under Sections 305 and 329(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, following a complaint by Joao Pires, 47, a self-employed resident of Jesus Nazareth, Siridao.
According to the complaint, the theft took place between 12.30 pm on September 29 and 8.30 pm on September 30, 2026, at the complainant’s residence in Siridao. An unknown person or persons allegedly gained entry into the house by opening the main door and stole a bag containing approximately Rs 1 lakh in Indian currency, US $5,900 and £3,500, along with an original Portuguese passport, Citizen Card and OCI Card.
The total value of the stolen property was estimated at approximately Rs 12 lakh.
Following the complaint, investigation teams from Agassaim Police Station and Old Goa Police Station were formed under the supervision of SDPO Panaji Sudesh Naik and SP North Harichandra Madkaikar.
The teams comprised PSI Jaki Hussain, PSI Shubham Korgaonkar, PSI Raksha Naik and police personnel Puresh Adkonkar, Kishan Naik and Nilesh Sakhalkar.
Police said both teams worked in coordination across Siridao, Agassaim and Goa Velha, following leads during the investigation. The entire stolen property, valued at approximately Rs 12 lakh, was subsequently traced.
Police said the accused is being taken on record as part of the ongoing investigation.
