CANACONA: Agonda Altar Server girls of Canacona Deanery wins the All Goa Altar Servers’ Tie-Breaker tournament organised by Seminary of Our Lady Saligao-Pilerne.
Agonda Altar Server Grils representing Canacona Deanery defeated Chinchinim Deanery by 2-0 Goals in the 5-a side Finals match.
The girls were garlanded with winner medals and awarded the winners Trophy, at the hands of the chief guest.
In the earlier rounds Canacona Deanery goit a walk-over as Bicholim Deanery didn’t turned up for the matches, but defeated Goa-Velha Deanery and had a evenly fought tie-breaker eventually winning with Margao Deanery in the Semi-finals.Gwyneth Fernandes and Alifa Fernandes of Canacona Deanery were adjudged Best Goalkeeker and Best Player of the tie-breaker tournament.
Besides Gwneth and Alifa, Aanya, Delisha, Kim were Agonda Alter Server girls participated in the Team of Canacona Deanery.
Altogether 19 teams confirmed their participation in the All Goa Altar Servers’ Girls Tie-Breaker divided in two groups. The Teams were Benaulim Deanery, Siolim Deanery, Raia Deanery, Mapusa Deanery, Verna Deanery, Panjim Deanery, Mormugao Deanery, Calangute Deanery, Calangute Deanery and Pernem Deanery all clubbed in one group, while Deaneries of Old-Goa, Ponda, Goa-Velha, Bichlim, Canaocna, Quepem, Sanguem, Margao and Aldona were in the second group.
However, Agonda Altar Server Boys representing Canacona Deanery lost their first round match of the All Goa Altar Servers’ Boys Tie-Breaker.
Agonda Parish Priest Fr. Patrick Luis and sports enthusiast Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Baltazar Fernandes congratulated the Girls for winning the prestigious all Goa Altar Server’s Girls Trophy and the two special individual awards.
