CANACONA: In yet another exercise 27 more tourist establishments were sealed acting on the High Court order, even as a delegation met Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant at Panaji.
The sealing team led by Canacona Dy. Collector Madhu Narvekar descended on the Southern side of Agonda beach only to be engaged by a couple of disgruntled tourism stakeholders for discussions, thus delaying the beginning of sealing process on Friday morning.
The stakeholders contention was their private property is wrongly shown in the list by the PIL petitioner in High Court and hence their private structures are in no way connected with the PIL on which teh court has pronounced the order to seal their structures within 24 hours.
The officers representing the Authority to Seal the 67 Structures!/Establishments were further engrossed in yet another discussion which turned into argument, before finally the authorities continued the sealing process.
Ultimately at the end of the day, 27 tourism Structures/Establishments were Sealed by the staff of Nodal Officer Canacona BDO Savio Carvalho of Panchayat secretaries Amol K Naikgaunkar and Sushant Lolayekar.
With this a total of 54 tourism establishments were sealed out of the 67 establishments ordered by teh Hon High Court.
The team discontinued their operations by 5.30 on the second day of drive, and will continue the drive to seal the remaining structures on Monday morning with 2 days holidays break.
Meanwhile, a group of affected tourism stakeholders met Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant at Panjim along with Canacona MLA and GLA Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar, in the ongoing Sealing drive taking place at Agonda beach.
According to reports, Chief Minister assured the Speaker Tawadkar that the situation will be resolved quickly and in conjunction with the authorities responsible.
‘The CM assured swift intervention and resolution of the matter in coordination with the competent authorities and by taking Speaker into the confidence’, informed one of the participants.
